About WBWO

World Business Welfare Organisation is an independent, non-governmental association. We check businesses thoroughly, once, in a way partners anywhere can rely on, and then we stand with them as members.

Why we exist

Honest businesses lose trade every day because a buyer, bank or partner abroad can’t tell them apart from a fraudulent one. Each new partner runs its own checks, asks for the same documents again and still can’t be sure.

WBWO does those checks properly, once, and makes the result public. A certified member can point anyone to its record, and anyone can check that record for free.

Membership doesn’t end with a certificate. Members find and connect with each other on the member platform, settle disputes through mediation rather than in court, and can ask the Welfare Fund for support when a crisis hits.

What we mean by a genuine business

  • It is legally registered

And in good standing with the registry in the country where it operates.

  • Its real owners are known

Everyone who owns or controls 25% or more has passed identity checks.

  • It declares its income

It is registered for tax, files its returns and has no overdue tax it is hiding.

  • It treats its workers fairly

It pays at least the legal minimum wage, uses proper contracts and keeps people safe.

How WBWO is run

Decisions are kept apart from fees
An independent certification committee decides every application. Nobody can pay for a better result, and members never decide on their own certification.
Auditors don’t work for us
Every audit is carried out by an accredited auditor with no ties to the business, its owners or its direct competitors.
Members have a say
Certified members vote at the annual meeting and elect representatives to the board.
Our own books are open
Our accounts are independently reviewed every year, and we publish them along with the Welfare Fund’s.

Who decides what

Board of directors
Responsible for strategy, finances and the organization’s legal duties as a Colorado nonprofit corporation. Some directors are elected by members.
Certification committee
Decides every certification, renewal and withdrawal. Its members don’t sell memberships and never decide on a business they’re connected to.
Welfare Fund panel
Decides on loans from the Welfare Fund, using rules we publish.
Annual members’ meeting
Where certified members vote, elect directors and question the board on the year’s work and accounts.
